Every field or profession has its specialized vocabulary, hence it is to be expected that a number of words used by the botanical pharmacologist may not ring a bell in the ears of the layman. Also, the early herbalists used words that are no longer current in the medical profession, yet they are necessary in a book dealing with ancient lore.
