To make an infusion, cut or grate a small portion of the leaves, stems, roots, or other plant parts. Place the recommended quantity in a glass or porcelain container, and pour the recommended quantity of boiling water over it, just as you would to make tea. Cover and allow to steep for five or ten minutes, then strain to remove particles. The infusion is then ready to drink hot or cold as recommended. A mixture such as this when simmered is a decoction.
